Fairy-tale figure who came to life on Deep Space Nine after O'Brien read his story to Molly, one of many imaginings made real by visiting aliens.
Rumpelstiltskin is the character from the fairy tale that Miles O'Brien reads to his daughter Molly in If Wishes Were Horses. Soon after she is tucked in, Molly reports that he is in her room, and Miles and Keiko find the impish figure there in person.
He is one of several imaginings that appear across the station, alongside a seductive copy of Dax and the baseball player Buck Bokai. All of them turn out to be the work of explorers from beyond the wormhole who wanted to study humanoid imagination, and they vanish once the crew stops believing in the threat they have created.
