An Illyrian attorney and childhood friend of Una Chin-Riley who defended her at her court-martial.
Neera Ketoul is an Illyrian civil rights attorney and a childhood friend of Una Chin-Riley. When Una was arrested for hiding her identity as a genetically modified Illyrian, Christopher Pike recruited Ketoul to defend her, in a case that put Starfleet's treatment of Illyrians on trial. She was played by Yetide Badaki.
Ketoul argued that the law against genetic modification was unjust and unevenly applied, and noted that Admiral Robert April had himself bent the Prime Directive when he thought it right. She persuaded the court that Una could be considered to have been seeking asylum when she joined Starfleet, winning her acquittal.
