A member of Miles O'Brien's engineering staff who is fatally wounded during a standoff with the Jem'Hadar in the Gamma Quadrant.
Muñiz is a Starfleet crewman who works under Chief Miles O'Brien on Deep Space Nine. In The Ship, he joins Sisko's survey team on a Gamma Quadrant planet and is badly wounded when the Jem'Hadar attack after a Dominion ship crashes nearby.
While the team holds out in the crashed vessel, Muñiz slowly bleeds to death despite managing to shoot an intruding Jem'Hadar. His suffering sparks a bitter argument between O'Brien and Worf, and after his death the two keep vigil over his casket. Muñiz was played by F. J. Rio.
