Masaka is a powerful figure in the mythology of an ancient civilization, a queen associated with the sun. Her story is stored in a huge archive concealed within a rogue comet that the Enterprise scans.
In Masks, the archive begins transforming the ship into a recreation of that culture and Data takes on personalities from it, including Ihat and finally Masaka herself. Picard learns that only Korgano, the moon figure who chases Masaka across the sky, can speak to her. He wears a mask of Korgano and confronts Masaka, and the archive's transformation of the ship comes to an end.
