El-Aurian con man who opened a rival bar on Deep Space Nine using a gambling device that altered the laws of probability.
Martus Mazur is an El-Aurian swindler whom Odo locks up for conning an elderly couple in Rivals. In his cell, Martus acquires a small gambling device from his dying cellmate, Cos, and his luck immediately changes when his victims decide not to press charges.
He opens a bar and casino on the Promenade with larger versions of the device, drawing customers away from Quark. The machines soon distort probability across the station and then turn against Martus himself. Sisko and Dax destroy the device, and Martus is arrested after the couple reinstate their charges.
