A long-lived species whose people were scattered by the Borg.
El-Aurians are a humanoid people known for their patience and for being unusually good listeners, and they tend to live a very long time. Their home world, El-Auria, was destroyed by the Borg, and the survivors scattered across the galaxy in small groups, so that the species has no home world any more.
Because so few El-Aurians remain, they are rarely seen as a people, and they often take a quiet, thoughtful approach to life that lets them see problems from several angles. Their longevity and calm manner make them natural advisers and confidants.
The most famous El-Aurian is Guinan, the bartender of Ten Forward on the Enterprise-D, who gives advice to the crew and shares a deep and mysterious bond with Captain Picard. Her knowledge of the Borg proves useful. Another El-Aurian, Doctor Tolian Soran, is the villain of the film Generations, determined to return to the Nexus, a ribbon of energy that had drawn him in before.
