A xenobiologist who devoted her life to studying the Crystalline Entity after it killed her son on Omicron Theta.
Dr. Kila Marr was the leading expert on the Crystalline Entity. In Silicon Avatar she joined the Enterprise-D after the Entity attacked the colony on Melona IV. She distrusted Data because his brother Lore had helped the Entity, and because her 16-year-old son Raymond had died in its attack on Omicron Theta.
Working with Data on a way to communicate with the Entity, she learned that his memory held her son's journals and asked Data to speak to her in her son's voice. When contact with the Entity was about to succeed, she altered the signal to destroy it. Afterwards she broke down, and her career was ruined.
