Kelsey leads a band of mercenaries who pose as technicians at the Remmler Array while the Enterprise is evacuated for a baryon sweep. Their real goal is to steal trilithium resin, a volatile engine waste product, so that it can be sold for use as a powerful explosive.
In Starship Mine, Picard, alone aboard the ship, fights the thieves one by one ahead of the deadly sweep. Kelsey escapes in a shuttle with the resin, but Picard has removed its stabilizing control rod, and the shuttle explodes soon after she leaves.
