John Evansville was a descendant of humans abducted from Earth in 1937 who welcomed Voyager to his people's world.
John Evansville belonged to the community of more than 100,000 humans living in three cities on a Delta Quadrant planet, all descended from people the Briori abducted from Earth in 1937. His ancestors had rebelled against the Briori and built a free society there over many generations.
In The 37's, Evansville and his people first mistook Voyager's away team for the Briori and opened fire. Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, he showed the crew what the settlers had built, revealed that they revered the eight sleepers as monuments to their ancestors, and invited anyone from Voyager to stay and join them.
