A professor brought to a 1947 army base to communicate with the stranded Ferengi, who helps them escape and return to their own time.
Professor Jeff Carlson is a scientist summoned to the military base near Roswell in Little Green Men after Quark, Rom and Nog crash there in July 1947. He is engaged to Faith Garland, a nurse working at the same base.
Carlson is curious and open minded about the visitors, and unlike the officers who see the Ferengi as an invasion force, he wants to understand them. When the Ferengi need to get back to their shuttle, he and Faith help them break out of custody. He was played by Conor O'Farrell.
