A Romulan nun of the Qowat Milat who raided Starfleet ships for dilithium in order to save refugees from the Dark Matter Anomaly.
J'Vini is a Romulan citizen of Ni'Var and a nun of the Qowat Milat order who appears in Choose to Live. She attacks several Starfleet ships to steal rare dilithium crystals, killing an officer during one robbery, which puts Starfleet at odds with Ni'Var during delicate reunification talks.
Gabrielle Burnham believes J'Vini has found a lost cause and joins Michael Burnham in pursuing her. They find her on what looks like a barren moon but is actually a vast ship of refugees in suspended animation, which J'Vini was trying to move out of the anomaly's path. Burnham arrests her but helps save the refugees.
