A dying Antaran who refuses treatment from Phlox because of the long enmity between their peoples.
Hudak is an Antaran evacuee rescued by Enterprise when his transport suffers a dangerous radiation leak in The Breach. He is the most badly hurt of the passengers, but because Antarans and Denobulans share a centuries-long history of conflict, he refuses to be treated by Phlox.
Denobulan medical ethics put a patient's wishes first, so Phlox declines Archer's order to treat him anyway. The standoff forces Phlox to confront his own feelings about the Antarans, and gives the episode its study of old hatreds and the possibility of setting them aside.
