Engineer who designed Earth's first warp five engine, and whose frustrations with the Vulcans shaped his son Jonathan.
Henry Archer was the father of Jonathan Archer and the principal designer of Earth's first warp five engine. Played by Mark Moses, he appears in flashbacks in Broken Bow, building a model ship with young Jonathan and growing frustrated that the Vulcans seemed intent on holding back human space exploration.
He did not live to see his engine fly, but the launch of Enterprise in 2151 fulfilled his work, and Jonathan carried his father's resentment of Vulcan caution into his early years as captain.
