D'Tan is a young Romulan who belongs to the secret group of dissidents working with Spock to learn the ways of Vulcan philosophy. He is enthusiastic about Vulcan culture and eager for a future of peace between the two peoples.
In Unification, Part II, D'Tan shows Spock and Picard how much the movement means to Romulans like him, and he embodies the hope that keeps Spock on Romulus after the invasion plot is defeated.
