A seventeen-year-old who survived a crash on Thasus as a child and was given immense mental powers by its non-corporeal inhabitants.
Charlie Evans is the sole survivor of a ship crash on Thasus, where he lived alone from early childhood until he was found and brought aboard the Enterprise. Socially awkward and desperate for affection, he quickly fixates on Yeoman Janice Rand and seeks approval from Kirk as a father figure.
Charlie's powers, granted by the Thasians so that he could survive, let him alter objects and make people disappear, and his tantrums grow increasingly dangerous. The Thasians finally appear and take him back, despite his pleading to stay among humans. He was played by Robert Walker Jr.
