The arrogant captain of the USS Excelsior, whose attempt to chase Kirk's stolen Enterprise was foiled by Montgomery Scott's sabotage.
Styles commands the USS Excelsior, the prototype starship fitted with transwarp drive, and he looks on Kirk's aging Enterprise with disdain. When Kirk and his officers steal the Enterprise from Spacedock to return to the Genesis Planet, Styles takes the Excelsior in pursuit.
Montgomery Scott, assigned to the Excelsior, has already removed vital parts from its transwarp computer. The new ship stalls, leaving Styles helpless as the Enterprise escapes. He was played by James B. Sikking.
