A Cheronian official who had pursued the fugitive Lokai across the galaxy for thousands of years, driven by racial hatred.
Bele is a police commissioner from the planet Cheron who arrives aboard the Enterprise in an invisible ship. His face is black on the right side and white on the left, and he considers people like Lokai, whose colouring is reversed, to be inferior.
Having hunted Lokai for fifty thousand years, Bele takes control of the Enterprise and forces it to Cheron. The two find their world destroyed by the war between their peoples, but they continue their pursuit on the planet's surface. He was played by Frank Gorshin.
