Revered Bajoran poet who emerged from the wormhole after two centuries and claimed to be the true Emissary of the Prophets.
Akorem Laan is a celebrated Bajoran poet who disappeared two centuries ago when his ship was drawn into the wormhole. He emerges in the present convinced that the Prophets sent him back to be their Emissary, and Benjamin Sisko, still uneasy in that role, steps aside and accepts his claim.
In Accession, Akorem urges Bajorans to return to the old D'jarra caste system, causing division and even violence. Sisko challenges him, and the two travel into the wormhole together. The Prophets confirm that Sisko is their Emissary and return Akorem to his own time. He was played by Richard Libertini.
