A large Klingon warship class of the late 24th century, serving as a mainstay of the Klingon Defence Force alongside the Negh'Var and the Bird-of-Prey.
The Vor'cha-class attack cruiser is a large Klingon warship introduced in the late 2360s. Its long forward neck and broad wings follow the classic Klingon layout, and it carries heavy disruptor weapons and torpedoes. The class first appeared when Chancellor K'mpec travelled aboard one to meet Captain Picard, and it remained in frontline service for the rest of the century.
Gowron's flagship, the Bortas, was a Vor'cha-class ship during the Klingon Civil War, when cruisers of the class served on both sides of the conflict. The class remained in service through the Klingon invasion of Cardassia and the brief war with the Federation that followed, and when the Klingons rejoined the alliance, Vor'cha ships fought beside Starfleet throughout the Dominion War.
The class represents the Klingon Empire's modern fleet in The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. It filled the gap between the smaller Bird-of-Prey and the huge Negh'Var flagship, and it has since become one of the most recognisable Klingon designs.
