The USS Wellington was a Starfleet starship on which Ensign Ro Laren served early in her career. During an away mission to Garon II, Ro disobeyed orders, and eight members of the away team were killed.
Ro was court-martialed and imprisoned on Jaros II, where she remained until Starfleet released her for a mission aboard the Enterprise-D in Ensign Ro. Her history on the Wellington made her an outsider among the Enterprise crew, though Picard eventually invited her to stay on as a member of his crew.
