The USS Lalo was a Starfleet freighter operating in Federation space in 2366. As the Borg advanced into Federation territory, the Lalo sent a distress call reporting contact with a Borg cube.
The transmission ended abruptly and the ship was not heard from again, one of the early losses of the Borg incursion that culminated in the massacre at Wolf 359. Starfleet lost several ships and the colony at Jouret IV during the advance before the Enterprise-D confronted the cube directly.
