A Crossfield-class sister ship of the Discovery, found with its crew dead after an experimental spore drive jump.
The USS Glenn was a Crossfield-class science vessel and sister ship of the Discovery, which took part in experiments with the displacement-activated spore hub drive during the Klingon War. Its research was led by Straal, a colleague of Paul Stamets.
In 2256 an experimental jump went catastrophically wrong, leaving the crew dead and their bodies contorted. A boarding party from the Discovery that included Michael Burnham found a giant tardigrade-like creature aboard, along with Klingon intruders. After the creature was taken to the Discovery, Lorca had the Glenn destroyed to keep its technology out of Klingon hands.
