Pirate ships of the Nausicaans, which preyed on Earth cargo vessels and clashed with Enterprise over the freighter Fortunate in 2151.
Nausicaan pirates flew small, fast raiders in the 2150s and preyed on slow Earth cargo ships, operating from a base in an asteroid.
In Fortunate Son, Nausicaan raiders attacked the Earth freighter ECS Fortunate, whose crew captured one of the pirates. Matthew Ryan, the freighter's acting captain, took the ship to the Nausicaan asteroid seeking revenge, and Enterprise engaged the raiders there before Archer brokered a truce under which the prisoner was returned.
