A planet claimed by both the Federation and the Klingons under the Organian Peace Treaty, the destination of the grain at the center of The Trouble with Tribbles.
Sherman's Planet lies in a region disputed between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Under the terms of the Organian Peace Treaty, the planet will go to whichever power shows it can develop it most efficiently, which turns its farming into a matter of interstellar politics.
In The Trouble with Tribbles, the Federation plans to plant the planet with quadrotriticale, a high-yield grain stored at Deep Space Station K-7. Klingon sabotage of the grain is intended to ruin the Federation's claim, but the plot is exposed and the shipment is replaced.
