Mintaka III is home to the Mintakans, a peaceful, rational proto-Vulcan people at a Bronze Age level of development. Federation anthropologists studied them from a concealed observation post. In Who Watches the Watchers the Enterprise came to repair the post after it failed.
The malfunction exposed the observers to the villagers, and a Mintakan named Liko came to believe that Picard was a god. Picard worked to undo the damage, eventually letting Liko wound him to prove he was mortal and showing the village leader Nuria the truth.
