A lush, Eden-like planet whose environment is controlled by the machine Vaal, and whose dangers kill several of Kirk's landing party.
Gamma Trianguli VI looks like a paradise, with warm weather and a uniform climate. In The Apple, the Enterprise landing party finds it full of hidden dangers, including plants that fire poisonous thorns, rocks that explode and sudden bolts of lightning, which kill several security officers.
The planet is controlled by Vaal, a machine served by a small population who live without aging, children or ambition. When Vaal draws the Enterprise toward destruction, Kirk has the ship's phasers drain it, leaving its people free to change.
