A Federation outpost world periodically swept by deadly firestorms, where Nella Daren led an evacuation effort.
Bersallis III hosts a Federation outpost on a planet subject to violent firestorms that strike at intervals. When a storm far stronger than expected approaches, the Enterprise is sent to help evacuate the colonists.
In Lessons, Lieutenant Commander Nella Daren leads a team on the surface using thermal deflectors to hold back the flames while transport continues. Several members of the team are killed before the last colonists are rescued, and Picard fears that Daren has been lost.
