American actress who plays helmsman Erica Ortegas in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Melissa Navia is an American actress whose earlier work includes the science fiction film The Paragon Cortex, which won her a festival acting award, and guest and recurring roles on Billions and Dietland.
On Star Trek: Strange New Worlds she plays Lieutenant Erica Ortegas, the Enterprise's confident, wisecracking helm officer and a capable combat pilot. Ortegas often supplies levity on the bridge while showing steady nerve in battle, including during the crew's encounters with the Gorn, and she has been part of the main cast since the first season.
