American science fiction author who wrote The Measure of a Man and served as story editor of The Next Generation's second and third seasons.
Melinda Snodgrass, an American science fiction writer born in 1951, served as story editor of Star Trek: The Next Generation during its second and third seasons. Her first script, The Measure of a Man, puts Data on trial to determine whether he is a person or Starfleet property and is regarded as one of the series' finest hours; she also helped recover an extended cut of the episode from an old VHS tape.
Her other Next Generation scripts include Pen Pals, Up the Long Ladder, The Ensigns of Command and The High Ground. She is also a novelist and a co-editor of the Wild Cards anthology series.
