American actress who made her feature film debut as the Vulcan officer Saavik in The Wrath of Khan.
Kirstie Alley (1951–2022) was an American actress whose feature film debut came as Lieutenant Saavik in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982). Saavik, a Vulcan protégée of Spock, takes the Kobayashi Maru test at the start of the film and serves on the Enterprise during its battle with Khan.
Alley did not return for the sequel, and the role was recast with Robin Curtis. She later found her breakthrough as Rebecca Howe on the sitcom Cheers, winning an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe, and starred in the Look Who's Talking films and Veronica's Closet. She died in 2022.
