English actor who played three different Star Trek roles, including Chancellor Gorkon and the Cardassian interrogator Gul Madred.
David Warner (1941–2022) was an English actor of stage and screen who often played villains, in films including The Omen, Time Bandits, Tron and Titanic. He began with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Warner played the Federation diplomat St. John Talbot in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) and the Klingon Chancellor Gorkon, whose peace initiative drives the plot, in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991). In The Next Generation two-parter Chain of Command he played Gul Madred, the Cardassian who tortures Captain Picard, a performance widely ranked among the series' best.
