The clerics of Boreth maintain the monastery founded on the world where, according to legend, Kahless promised to return. In 2369 Worf went there seeking spiritual renewal, and the clerics led by Koroth presented a man who appeared to be Kahless himself. He was later revealed to be a clone created from blood preserved on an ancient relic, engineered to carry the memories of the legends.
The deception led to a compromise in which the clone was installed as a ceremonial emperor while Gowron retained political power. In Discovery the monks of Boreth were shown guarding the time crystals sought by Captain Pike.
