Return of Kahless

The clone of Kahless becomes Klingon emperor

In 2369 the clerics of Boreth produced a clone of Kahless the Unforgettable, who was installed as a ceremonial Klingon emperor.

In 2369 Worf visited the monastery on Boreth, where the clerics awaited the return of Kahless, the founder of the Klingon Empire. A man appearing to be Kahless appeared and claimed to have returned. Tests seemed to confirm his identity, and he gained a following that threatened Chancellor Gowron's authority.
The clerics admitted that he was a clone grown from Kahless's preserved blood and given memories from sacred texts. Rather than let the dispute divide the Empire, Worf suggested making the clone emperor, a position empty for three centuries, with real power staying with Gowron and the High Council.
