Discovery is trapped in a subspace void, and the crew must find a way out with help from Zora and Gray.
Investigating a subspace rift left by the anomaly, Discovery becomes trapped in a void where even a probe disintegrates. Book and Stamets try to jump the ship free, but Book is haunted by hallucinations of his late father on his birthday, which Stamets traces to particles from the galactic barrier.
Zora, the ship's sentient computer, is overwhelmed by the data she is processing, and Gray helps her settle by playing a game with her. Zora then finds a way out, and to protect the crew from the void Burnham has everyone stored in the transporter pattern buffer while she and Zora fly the ship. She wakes in sickbay to find they have escaped. Jonathan Frakes directed.
