A rebellious boy and Lwaxana teach the ship about fun.
Lwaxana Troi arrives on the Enterprise to prepare for her wedding, and she meets Alexander, who is disenchanted with life on the ship. Lwaxana encourages the boy to have fun, which brings her into conflict with Worf. Meanwhile, the Enterprise is infested with parasites that start to affect the ship's systems.
The story is a comic and heartwarming one that explores the value of play and spontaneity, with a memorable scene in the holodeck. Lwaxana's relationship with Alexander shows a softer side of the character. It also reminds the audience of the importance of living in the moment. The episode is a charming entry, and a good example of the lighter side of the series.
