A Romulan military commander who backed Shinzon's takeover of the Romulan Empire.
Commander Suran is a senior Romulan military officer who belongs to the faction of the armed forces that supports Shinzon. With the Senate eliminated, that backing allows the Reman leader to take control of the Romulan Star Empire.
In Star Trek: Nemesis, Suran is among the Romulan officers at Shinzon's side when Picard and his officers arrive on Romulus for talks. The military support he represents is what makes Shinzon's coup possible, even as Shinzon pursues a secret plan to attack Earth with the Scimitar.
