A Ba'ku man who lived peacefully in the village threatened by the Son'a plan to harvest their planet's rings.
Sojef is a member of the Ba'ku, a people who abandoned advanced technology for a simpler life on a planet whose rings slow aging. He lives in the village with his son Artim.
In Star Trek: Insurrection, Sojef and his fellow Ba'ku are the target of a secret Federation and Son'a plan to relocate them so that the rings' metaphasic particles can be collected. Sojef hosts the visiting Enterprise crew, and his family's quiet way of life is part of what convinces Picard to defy his orders.
