Yaderan refugee who recreated his lost village as a hologram on a distant planet after the Dominion conquered his homeworld.
Rurigan is the oldest resident of a small Gamma Quadrant village in Shadowplay. When Odo and Dax arrive to investigate a strange particle field, Rurigan seems strangely certain that the villagers who have been vanishing will never be found.
The whole village, including its people, proves to be a hologram created by a failing reactor. Rurigan, the only real inhabitant, explains that he fled Yadera Prime when the Dominion arrived and rebuilt the world he had lost. Odo convinces him that the holograms deserve to live, and Rurigan helps Dax repair the reactor so the missing villagers return.
