A Ferengi scientist whose metaphasic shield promised safe travel into a star, and whose murder Dr. Crusher set out to solve.
Dr. Reyga is a Ferengi scientist who has developed a metaphasic shield that could allow a ship to fly into a star's corona. Other scientists largely dismiss his work, influenced by prejudice against his species.
In Suspicions, Dr. Crusher brings Reyga and other scientists aboard the Enterprise for a test. After the test pilot Jo'Bril appears to die, Reyga is found dead as well. Crusher risks her career to prove that his shield works and that he was murdered by Jo'Bril, who had faked his own death.
