The exhausted lieutenant left in command of the Starfleet garrison holding the Dominion relay on AR-558.
Lieutenant Nadia Larkin commands the Starfleet garrison on AR-558 in The Siege of AR-558, having taken charge after her captain and first officer were killed. Only 43 of the 150 soldiers sent to hold the captured Dominion communications relay are still alive, and none has been relieved in more than five months.
When Sisko arrives with supplies, Larkin leads a scouting party to gauge the Jem'Hadar strength. The party is ambushed, Larkin is killed, and Nog loses a leg.
