The first officer of the warbird Khazara who abducted Deanna Troi to help him smuggle Romulan defectors to the Federation.
Subcommander N'Vek is the first officer of the Romulan warbird Khazara and a secret member of the underground movement that helps Romulan dissidents defect. He arranges for Troi to be kidnapped and surgically disguised as Major Rakal of the Tal Shiar.
In Face of the Enemy, N'Vek needs Troi's assumed authority to steer the Khazara toward the Federation with his secret cargo, Vice Proconsul M'Ret and two aides in stasis. When his ship's commander Toreth grows suspicious, N'Vek takes drastic steps and is killed, but Troi completes the mission.
