Mira Romaine is a lieutenant travelling aboard the Enterprise to supervise equipment for the library planetoid Memory Alpha. She and Montgomery Scott fall in love during the voyage.
When a cloud of energy destroys Memory Alpha's staff, it becomes clear that the Zetarians, the remaining life force of a dead people, are taking control of Mira's mind and want her body as a home. McCoy and Spock force them out by putting her into a pressure chamber, and she survives. She was played by Jan Shutan.
