The father of Michael Burnham, a scientist who comforted his young daughter with stories before Klingons destroyed the family's life.
Mike Burnham is the father of Michael Burnham and husband of Gabrielle Burnham. In the Short Trek The Girl Who Made the Stars, played by Kenric Green, he eases his young daughter's fear of the dark with a story about an African girl who braves a Night Beast and is given light that she uses to create the stars.
Mike and Gabrielle worked on Section 31's Red Angel project, as revealed in The Red Angel. A Klingon attack on their laboratory left Michael believing both parents dead.
