Mendon was a Benzite ensign assigned to the Enterprise under the officer exchange programme in A Matter of Honor, while Riker served on a Klingon ship. Wesley Crusher at first mistook him for Mordock, another Benzite he had met.
Mendon was eager and capable but followed Benzite custom by not reporting a problem until he had a full solution. He detected an organism on the hull of the Klingon ship Pagh but kept quiet, which caused friction with the crew. He then helped devise a way to remove it from both ships. John Putch played him.
