Martin Wells is an FBI agent in 2024 who arrests Picard and Guinan, driven by a childhood encounter with aliens he believed were hostile.
Martin Wells is a special agent of the FBI in Los Angeles in 2024. As a boy he had an encounter with beings he took to be murderous aliens, and the experience made him determined to prove that extraterrestrials were secretly on Earth.
In Monsters, Wells tracks surveillance footage of Picard using a transporter and arrests him along with the young Guinan at her bar. In Mercy he separates the two and presses Picard to confess to being an alien.
Picard wins him over by explaining that the beings he met were Vulcans, who had only tried to erase his memory rather than harm him. Wells is then dismissed by the FBI for running an illegal investigation and lets his prisoners go. He was played by Jay Karnes.
