The Cairn ambassador whose telepathic contact with Lwaxana Troi triggered the crisis that uncovered her buried grief.
Maques is an ambassador of the Cairn, a telepathic species learning to communicate through speech. He travels aboard the Enterprise with his young daughter Hedril and their teacher, Lwaxana Troi.
In Dark Page, Maques's telepathic attempts to understand Lwaxana awaken memories she had long suppressed, contributing to her collapse into a coma. He later helps Deanna Troi reach her mother's mind, leading Deanna to discover the death of a sister she never knew she had.
