A feline Caitian lieutenant who served as relief communications officer on Kirk's Enterprise during the animated series.
M'Ress is a Caitian, a member of a feline species, serving as a lieutenant aboard the USS Enterprise during the later years of Kirk's five-year mission. She usually staffs the communications station when Uhura is elsewhere and appears across a number of episodes of the animated series, voiced by Majel Barrett.
Alongside the Edoan navigator Arex, M'Ress was one of the alien bridge officers the animated format made possible, broadening the ship's crew beyond the humanoids seen in live action. Her purring delivery and cat-like features made her one of the most recognisable additions to the animated series, and she remains a fan favourite among the series' original characters.
