Groppler Zorn was the leader of the Bandi on Deneb IV when the newly launched Enterprise-D arrived in Encounter at Farpoint. He hoped to win a Federation base agreement and showed off Farpoint Station, a facility the Bandi could not have built with their own technology, while dodging questions about its power source.
The station proved to be a shape-shifting spaceborne lifeform that the Bandi had captured and forced to take the form of buildings. When its mate arrived and attacked the old Bandi city, seizing Zorn, Picard exposed the truth. Freed with the crew's help, the creature rejoined its mate, and Zorn was left to face the consequences.
