Beverly Crusher's grandmother, a healer on the colony of Caldos who was secretly involved with a being known as Ronin.
Felisa Howard was a respected healer on Caldos, a Federation colony built to resemble the Scottish Highlands. She had raised Beverly Crusher and taught her herbal medicine. In Sub Rosa, Beverly travelled to Caldos for her funeral after she died at the age of 100.
Among her possessions was a candle, and her journals revealed a relationship with a ghostly lover. That lover turned out to be Ronin, a being who had attached himself to the women of the Howard family for centuries.
