A pregnant woman suffering from the Dominion's blight whose newborn child becomes the first of her people born free of the disease.
Ekoria is a young woman on the blighted Gamma Quadrant world in The Quickening who is late in her pregnancy when her disease quickens. When Bashir's colleagues return to the station, he stays behind to treat her with his experimental antiviral serum.
The treatment cannot save Ekoria, who dies shortly after giving birth, but her baby is born without the lesions of the blight. Bashir realizes his serum works as a vaccine, giving her people hope that their next generation can be spared.
